Dr. Venkatesan has been awarded a Ph.D. from the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT-Madras in the area of Construction Management (2010). Dr. Venkatesan has pursued his Master’s in Business Administration with a specialization in Human Resource & System Management (2000) and Bachelors in Civil Engineering (1988). Dr. Venkatesan has been associated with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) in numerous capacities for a period of 27 years and took a Voluntary Retirement (VRS), while he was serving as Executive Engineer, later he Headed the Management Development Center (MDC) of Consolidated Construction Consortium Ltd (CCCL), Chennai for a period of 3 years. Also served as a Director in Engineering Project Management Consultancy and Research (EPMCR), an incubated company of IIT-Madras for 2 years. After fruitful service of 34 years in the industry, Dr. Venkatesan has moved into the Academic sector to contribute his learnings to enrich the student community as well as work in further research pursuits. With a combined experience of 38 years, both in industry and academia, Dr. Venkatesan’s multi-disciplinary expertise range in the areas of Administration, Tendering, Contracting, Planning, Procurement, Project execution, Design, Maintenance, Valuation, Lean construction, and Value engineering.

• 2018- Research Excellence Award from National Institute of Construction Management and Research, Pune, Maharashtra, India.
• Since 2011 - Panel Reviewer for ‘International Journal of Construction Management and Economics (UK)’, Taylor and Francis Publications and also panel reviewer for ‘Journal of Engineering, Design and Technology’, Emerald Group Publications.
• He had published 12 International peer-reviewed journal papers and 2 national journal papers. Also presented 10 International Conference papers and 3 National conference papers.
• Member board of studies Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Vellore & Chennai.
